Programmatically Update the Inventory [ Bulk Update ] without API

Hi All,

We have more than 1000 products. Need to update the Inventory in each product by programmatically in every one hour ( task schedular ).
If use the API means, Site will be slow.. 
How to bulkly update the inventory for all products without API? like, Query based update..
